CLASSIFICATION
- Grade me: a microscopic injury without stretching of the ligament on a macroscopic level.
- Grade II: macroscopic stretching, but intact ligament.
- Grade III: a complete ligament rupture.
TREATMENT
Physiotherapy including functional therapy has been shown to more efficient than traditional immobilization of the sprained ankle.
Functional therapy has 4 stages:
- INFLAMMTORY PHASE (0-3 days):
Follow PRICE:-
P – Protection
R – Rest
I – icing
C – Compression
E – Elevation

- PROLIFERATIVE PHASE (4-10 days):

- motor coordination skills while performing mobility exercises
