Introduction 

Avascular neurosis is a disease in which blood circulation loose and completely blocked in the
bone and joints mostly in the femoral head. Bone tissue dies because no proper nutrition
supply in the bone. The femoral head slowly changes its shape and later this collapse. It
mostly occurs in 30 to 50 yrs. Old people. It mostly occurs in males as compared to females. It’s
different stages and these stages depend on severity. Early stages can be cured by
physiotherapy treatment.

The hip joint is most affected as compared to other joints such as the shoulder joint, knee joint,
elbow and wrist joint.

Causes

  1. AVN is occur due to trauma
  2. Intake of alcohol and smoking
  3. Intake of steroids drugs for a long time
  4. It occurs due to fracture
  5. Intake of anti-cancerous drugs
  6. It occurs in bone infections
  7. Dislocation of hip joint
  8. Organ transplantation especially kidney
  9. Radiotherapy treatment such as cancerous patients can weaken the bone
  10. Another reason blood clots, damage the arteries and this reason blood does not flow into bone
  11. Autoimmune diseases such as lupus
  12. Due to sickle cell anemia, normal blood amount is not present.
