Dr Nasir Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation

Gynaecologist

Back to normal.

Quick answer

See a gynaecologist for pregnancy care, menstrual and pelvic problems, and postnatal review. Physiotherapy works alongside for back and pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy, for recovery after a caesarean section, and for pelvic floor weakness — which is very common after childbirth and very treatable.

Gynaecologists look after pregnancy, childbirth and the female reproductive system. The physiotherapy alongside it is one of the most under-used services in India: pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy and pelvic floor weakness afterwards are both extremely common, both treatable, and both routinely accepted as something you simply live with.

When to see one

  • Pregnancy care and antenatal review
  • Heavy, irregular or very painful periods
  • Pelvic pain, or pain during intercourse
  • Postnatal review, including after a caesarean section
  • Menopause symptoms affecting daily life
  • Leaking urine when coughing, laughing or exercising

How physiotherapy fits

In pregnancy. Back pain and pelvic girdle pain affect a large share of pregnancies and respond well to treatment — support, specific exercise and advice on positioning. It is not something to endure for six months.

After birth. Abdominal separation, caesarean scar recovery, and returning to activity all benefit from a structured programme rather than guesswork.

Pelvic floor. Leaking when you cough, laugh or run is common and it is not something you have to accept. Supervised pelvic floor training is the first-line treatment in the guidelines, and it works for a majority of people who do it properly.

We have female therapists across the team, and this can be arranged as a home visit if that is easier.

Where to see one

Our physiotherapy units run inside multi-speciality hospitals and nursing homes across West and South West Delhi — in Vikaspuri, Janakpuri, Uttam Nagar, Najafgarh and Dwarka — most of which run consultant clinics in this speciality. If you are already under our care, ask your therapist and we will tell you who holds a clinic at the centre you attend and how to get an appointment.

We are a physiotherapy and rehabilitation practice. We do not employ these consultants and we take no fee for pointing you at one; we work alongside them because most of our patients need both.

Frequently asked questions

Is physiotherapy safe during pregnancy?
Appropriately delivered, yes — it is standard care in many countries for pregnancy-related back and pelvic pain. Tell us how far along you are and about any complications, and the programme is built around that.
How long after birth can I start?
Gentle pelvic floor work usually begins early, often within days for an uncomplicated delivery. Anything more demanding waits for your postnatal review. After a caesarean the timeline is different, and we set it with your doctor’s clearance.
