Health schemes
Physiotherapy and DGEHS
How DGEHS works for physiotherapy, how it differs from CGHS, and what to check before you book.
Quick answer
DGEHS is the Delhi government’s health scheme for its own employees and pensioners, and it runs closely alongside CGHS — much of the empanelled network and the rate structure are shared. Physiotherapy is normally accessed on referral, at a facility empanelled for the scheme rather than at a standalone clinic. Dr Nasir Physiotherapy runs physiotherapy units across West and South West Delhi, and we confirm what applies at a given centre before treatment starts.
Who DGEHS covers
DGEHS covers employees and pensioners of the Government of NCT of Delhi and their dependants. It is a separate scheme from CGHS with its own authority, even though the two are often confused and in practice overlap a great deal.
How it differs from CGHS, and where it does not
The eligibility is different: DGEHS is for Delhi government staff, CGHS for central government staff. The machinery is similar. DGEHS draws on much of the same empanelled hospital network and follows the same broad rate structure, which is why a hospital empanelled for one is frequently empanelled for the other. It is also why staff at a reception desk sometimes use the two names interchangeably — worth being precise about which card you hold when you ask.
How access usually works
As with CGHS, the route runs through a referral rather than straight to the treating facility. Which dispensary or authority issues it depends on your department and whether you are serving or retired. The practical question to settle before you book is simple: does this facility accept DGEHS specifically, and does my referral cover physiotherapy?
Why this matters more for physiotherapy than for most treatments
Physiotherapy is a course, not a single appointment. A knee or a shoulder may need eight to twelve visits. Discovering in week three that the referral covered four sessions, or that the facility bills CGHS but not DGEHS, is a far more expensive mistake than it would be for a one-off consultation. Settle it before the first session.
Starting in the right place
A DGEHS beneficiary does not begin at the physiotherapy unit. Treatment is arranged by the hospital — either on an internal referral from one of its own doctors, or by presenting your referral at the reception desk, which registers you against the scheme before anything else happens. Only then does the physiotherapy team hear that you are coming and on what basis. Booking a session yourself in the ordinary way bypasses all of that and makes you a private patient, which is an expensive way to discover the difference.
Where we fit
Our physiotherapy units sit inside hospitals, and any empanelment belongs to the hospital rather than to us. That means the answer differs by centre, and it is not something to guess at from a website. Tell us which scheme you hold and where you are, and we will find out and tell you before anything starts.
We work in Janakpuri and Vikaspuri.
Check what your DGEHS cover means here
Scheme treatment is arranged through the hospital desk, not by booking a session — so leave your details rather than booking, and we will tell you where to start and what your cover is likely to mean. No payment, nothing to cancel.
We send a short code on WhatsApp to check the number is yours. Nothing is booked and nothing is charged.
Last checked October 2026. Scheme rules change, and this page describes how DGEHS generally works rather than your own entitlement. The authority is the Government of NCT of Delhi — health.delhi.gov.in is where the current position is published.
